The European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change began its second term. Professor Kati Kulovesi, a member of the Finnish Climate Change Panel, is the first Finnish expert to be appointed to the ESABCC. Finnish Climate Change Panel memorandum and report: Achieving climate targets requires rapid corrective action in the LULUCF sector

The Finnish Climate Change Panel's latest publications deal with Finland's pathway to carbon neutrality and the situation in the land use, or LULUCF, sector. Meeting the 2030 commitment set by the EU is an important step towards carbon neutrality by 2035. The challenges in the LULUCF sector must be resolved if we are to avoid other sectors having to bear more of the load when it comes to climate actions. The Finnish Climate Change Panel’s Report: Increasing the blending mandate and accelerating electrification will halve transport emissions

The Finnish Climate Change Panel has published an assessment of the current government's transport emission reduction measures in relation to 2030 climate targets. The main challenges relate to changes to the renewable fuel blending mandate. Climate targets can be achieved by increasing the proportion of renewable fuels mixed in with fossil fuels to a sufficient level and by accelerating the electrification of transport. Reducing transport emissions to meet the emissions targets of the effort sharing sector is also economically beneficial.
